Wisdom tooth fever

I just finish my 5 days 4 nights seminar in UKM! Yeah! So finally i'm back in my home. Home sweet home. But thanks to my wisdom tooth, i had a week of sleepless night but really wana thank my partner for being there for me throughout the week. She helped to lift my cheek up when i was in great pain, helped me buy paracetamol, ice compression and a lot more! Really made me so touched and really grateful for her for being for me throughout the week.

Anyway overall from the seminar, it's mainly about appreciating our parents and elders. Some sessions are kinda fun but some are pretty dull and i reli fell asleep a few times. :P But now

Just a few photos here about the seminar.

5 days seminar!!!!!

I'll be attending a 5 days seminar starting tomoro! It'll start on coming MOnday til Friday and it'll be conducted form 8am til 9.30pm! It's specially for chinese school teachers and some parents from chinese school. I was 'honoured' to be asked to go with some of the teachers in my school and it was fully paid by the school. I was kinda shocked when i receive the letter from the school to ask me to go. But luckily some of my close colleagues are going too. Furthermore, it's in UKM, my previous Uni! And esp my friends and my partner is around there too! So i'm not really looking forward for the 8am-9.30pm time everyday but looking forward to the time out of that range where i can go and look for my friends! So it's not really a bad news for me after all!

Some intro about the seminar i'm going....

Introduction of Di Zi Gui

"The Chinese culture has been deeply influenced by Confucius, a great Chinese teacher and educator. His influence extends throughout the world even today. Confucius believed that moral principles, virtues and discipline should be the very first lessons taught to a child, and that children need to practice them daily. Unlike modern-day parents who disapprove of physical punishment, ancient Chinese parents actually encouraged and thanked the teacher when their children were punished for misbehaving. It was most important to the ancient Chinese parents that their children learned moral principles and virtues first – before any other subjects, because without these as a foundation, the learning of all other subjects would be futile. In ancient China, the purpose of going to school and studying was to prepare for becoming saints and sages, not to pave the way for fame or making a profit.

Di Zi Gui, in English, means standards for being a good student and child. It is the guide to a happy life. For thousand of years, this book contained the recommended standards for students. Even though they seem stringent by today’s standards, it is apparent that the people of that time felt it was important that the child should be well-disciplined and taught moral principles and virtues when still very young. They felt that without strict discipline and moral standards, a child would amount to nothing. Not knowing what it meant to be dutiful to parents and respectful to teachers, a child would grow up not listening to or respecting anyone. Ironically today many parents listen to the child instead of the other way around. Additionally, teachers are afraid to teach and discipline children because they are fearful of violating the children’s legal rights and being sued by the parents.

Currently, we live in a tumultuous world where the relationships among people, between people and their environment, parents and children, husbands and wives, and employers and employees are disintegrating. Parents do not act like parents. Children do not act like children. Our minds are polluted and our family system is disintegrating, as evidenced by an ever increasing divorce rate. Soon the planet Earth will no longer be fir for us to live on. We are fearful for our futures and the futures of our children. In reintroducing this boos, we hope it will serve as reference material and provide guidance for parents and children. Thus, future generations will benefit from it and society and our world will be at peace."

So....
Wish me all the best and hope i learn something from this seminar.

Holiday! Celebrate!

Heya! I'm currently on a holiday! one and a half months! Thanks to school holidays that i get to hav holidays too! That's the good things about being a teacher! The first weekend of my holiday, i've been to the berjaya hills, or was known as bukit tinggi. It's located near Genting highland. I never heard of it before til i saw my friend's photos in facebook. Since it's reachable by car, so me and my partner went there by my cute little proton car.

So we went to the rabbit farm as it's the nearest. The entrance fee is only RM3. The rabbits there were so cute! Chubby and just simply cute! You can carry it and touch it but bear in mind, it's not easy to hold a bunny. And never hold their ears or else you will kena from them. haha! There's instructions teaching us how to hold a bunny correctly. We had quite a fun time there not forgetting there're also deer park and ponny trails for kids. We took photos with the deers and pony too. The workers there gave us some foods so that we can feed the deers. It was a very exciting experience feeding them. :)

It's not easy as it seems to be to hold a bunny! and not forgetting to cover it's private part. :P

Feeding the deers and with the cute ponny(donkey?)

Next, we head to the Japanese Village. The slope to Japanese Village was kinda steep. I've been using the 1st and 2nd gear only. When i reach there, my car's water was boiling!(duno how to say, it's near the engine there) My fault as i din check my water level before i go. So for those who's going, remember to check ur car. Luckily i hav some water in my car that i can refill the water. While waiting for my car to cool down, we head to the botanical Garden. It was a nice place! When we wanted to take photo with the botanical garden information board, there's a japanese or korean couple offer to help us take. Very kind of them. But we actuali brought tripod so it's kinda useful for us. :) It's cooling and there're a lot of flowers and plants in the botanical Garden. Plants lovers will love to be here and not forgetting photographers who like to take nice plants photos.

Japanese Village

After leaving the botanical Garden, we head to japanese village which is just side by side. It's very nice with the nice waterfall and ancient hut. There's a place that we din get to go unless we rent a kimono which cost RM20. My partner wasn't so interested in kimono wearing so we just walked around the japanese village.

Next, our journey continues.

We head to Colmar Tropicale a.k.a the French Village. It was really kinda impressive! We dun feel like we are in Malaysia when we're in the French Street! Very cool and nice building built. More buildings are being built so we only get to walk in a street. Very cool and the 3 storeys-tower had lift so we no need to climb up the stairs. We can get to c the whole French Village on top of the tower. It's cool! Very cool! Oh ya, not forgetting there're two pairs of white and black swan just underneath the bridge to Colmar Tropicale. They are so elegent esp the white ones. But the black one quite nice too!

Here we present the Colmar Tropicale

A shot from the 3 storeys-tower

My partner with the black swan. :)

We head back to town as the weather doesn't seems to be nice. We had a lot of fun there especially taking photos! If u want to go somewhere for a walk or take nice photos, Bukit Tinggi a.k.a Berjaya Hills is a nice choice. You can stay overnight at the Colmar Tropicale's hotels and resort too. We might go and have a visit again when the new French Village is done. :) In conclusion, we had fun! :)

~Depressed~

Currently is 11.45pm. Wednesday night. 22nd of October 2008. I'm currently very depressed. There'll be sometime in my life that i'll get depressed for small reasons. These few days, i was bothered by my future. Before this, i never really think about it but since i got a letter saying i'll be jobless starting this December and no guarantee my contract will continue next year, i start to get worried and get tensed.
.
The problem is i don't know what i can do other than teaching. I've applied for HR, Management Trainee but i'm science based so it's not easy for me to look for these kind of job with a good pay. I wanted to apply for KPLI(Teaching course for graduates) but it's not easy to get it. Even Malays with good grades also took 3 years, means they applied for 3 times to get into that course.
.
These problems might be small in other people eyes and can be easily solved but i don't find it that easy. I have to think of my family too. I couldn't just go anywhere to work. Remember there was an offer for me to work in Kajang but parents dowan to let me go.
.
I feel totally tensed up and depressed. Hopefully it's just because of hormonal level changes in my body. And God please bless me with bright future.

Final Exam

Final Exam is here! But not my final exam! hahaha! It's the season for exam so it's the season for us, as teachers to mark papers. Bahasa Melayu and Maths papers i've already marked and now only left Science. I'm so happy with pri 3 maths as i taught among the worst class in pri 3 and a lot of them passed. Some of them even got B! I was so happy as they improved! Happy for them! I was 'forcing' them to do revision before exams like giving them lotsa exercise and it was useful after all! :)

3 Daffodil exam time

But sad to say, I'm so dissapointed with pri 5 BM result as they always talk in class and dowan to pay attention as if they already know everything. Some of them even said,'teacher, no need to teach la, we noe already'. We never said this kind of words to our teachers back to our time! They are overconfident! Now, in the best class, there are only 5 A's instead of last time more than 10 people! Hopefully after this lesson, they'll be able to be more humble and strive harder! Now i understand how teachers felt about us last time.... ...

4 more weeks of school then holiday! yeepie! :D

Kimberly's birthday!

13th of October 2008

Oh ya, in the end, after we paid the bills, Eugenie asked us to make a move and she walked kinda fast. We were like why? She said, secret recipe gave us free cakes! Because they din charge us for the cakes! haha!

Blue and black

9th October 2008(thursday)

I fell down from the stairs!!! In the school, when i was coming down from the 3rd floor to the 2nd floor with kids' exercise books. So at the stairs, i couldn't reli see what's in front then i step wrongly at the stairs and fell down on my butt(more to my thigh la) and 'skate' down a few steps. It was so painful and embarassing! Luckily there was only a student coming up from the stairs. She helped me collect the books and asked me how was i. I was so embarassed so i said okay and limped back to the staff room. haih...

so this is the effect from the fall..

Journey to the North

1st of October 2008 (1st day of Hari Raya)

My parents and i started our journey to the north of peninsular Malaysia around 7am. Our first destination was Sitiawan, the place where we can find the most Foochows in West Malaysia. So firstly, we used the north south highway(NSE) til we reach Bidor toll around 9am. So just go along the Bidor town, we followed the Teluk Intan road sign, or the Pangkor Island road sign to continue our journey. At around 10am, we reached Teluk Intan and since parents never went to Teluk Intan, so we took few photos with the Menara Condong Teluk Intan(Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan).

After that, we head to sitiawan. After around 1 hour plus, we reach sitiawan and bought some of the foochow biscuits and hand-make noodles. For those who wanted to buy Foochow biscuits in Sitiawan, remember to look for 7 floors yellow building of courts mammoth bcos the shop is just behind the building or feel free to ask around the local people where's the 7 floors building(qi chen lou).

We went to Lumut too since it's only around 15 min away. We passed by Lumut jetty and there were a lot of people lining up to buy tickets to go over to Pangkor Island. It's so cheap now as u only need to pay RM10 to go and come back by using the ferry. After having our lunch in Lumut, we head to our 2nd destination, Ipoh.

Around 2 hours of journey, finally we reach Ipoh. My dearest partner who's a truly Ipoh resident bring us around and after settled my parents down at the Hotel, i get to go to her house at Menglembu to stay for a night. :)

2nd of October 2008

We took picture with the famous Menglembu groundnut and we also bought a lot of foods around Ipoh before we head back to KL.

At night when we reach home in KL, we celebrated sis's birthday and ate the famous Kampar Bread Chicken where we dapao at Kampar when we were on our way back. Happy 28th birthday sis! Many returns of the day!

Oh ya, Alicia's mum gave me cute cute tortoise pau! They sell these during the temple celebration to welcome the 9th dragon god. Cute pau!
